The Past, Present and Future of Archives in South Africa, A Roundtable Discussion

Please join us in a roundtable discussion of the past, present, and future of liberation struggle and human rights archives in South Africa.  The roundtable will include leading figures with deep experience sustaining some of South Africa's most important archival collections including the South African History Archive (SAHA), the Mayibuye Centre Archives and the Robben Island Museum.  Topics addressed include the origins of these institutions, the relationship between human rights culture and archives, present-day engagement and sustainability challenges, and the future of archival practice and public access. 



The roundtable will be held on Wednesday, June 2 from 11:30AM to 12:45PM EST (17:30 to 18:45 SAST).  The roundtable is open to the public and a question and answer period will follow.

Stanley Sello, Coordinator for the Audiovisual Collections, at the UWC Robben Island Mayibuye Archives. Stanley is responsible for the Oral History and Film and Video Collections in one of the world's leading liberation struggle Archives. He also a leader in digitisation and digital preservation work.
